Beginners

The club caters for all ages and abilities and does not put any conditions on those wishing to join. Any prospective member should be able to cycle a minimum of 25mls without feeling completely exhausted. A suitable bike in a roadworthy condition plus appropriate clothing for the time of year is a must. It can get very cold in the wilds of Northumberland in mid winter. Although Hybrid and Mountain bikes are allowed on club runs they may not be the best choice. In winter all riders who come out on Saturday and Sunday should have mudguards fitted to their bike for the comfort of those around them as well as themselves.

It is not necessary to be  a member of the club before coming along and having a go. The Saturday morning club ride is the best place to start. It can be a bit daunting riding in a large group for the first time so it is best to take advice from the more experienced riders in the club and follow instructions. If you enjoy coming out with the club after a few rides you can them join as a full member.

In order to join you need to send your full contact details to Peter at petersan@btinternet.com or info@gosforthroadclub.com Once you have paid your membership you can register for the club newsletter.

There is a separate section for the U16's and details of their activities are on the Go Ride pages of the website. Riders under 16 can come out with the adults but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The Youths who are capable of riding 30-40mls with a coffee stop come out with the senior section on the first Saturday in each month.
